THE BELMONT STAKES
Saturday
morning we rode the train to Long Island for the Belmont Stakes horse races. We
crossed our fingers to see California Chrome win the triple-crown.
Unfortunately, history was not made that day. HOWEVER, we did see some pretty crazy other things ...
Helping Ricardo place a few bets
Beforehand I had a vision of what the day would look like... Basically just Gatsby + horses. I was a little naive, the place was a jungle at times. Nonetheless, there was not a lack of amazing hats, people-watching, and a good time.
We enjoyed the sunshine, the freshly-squeezed lemonade, and the picnic-food in “the backyard” as we lounged, watched the races, and took an incredible amount of photos.
Due to
the excessive crowds it took hours to get back into the city. Once we did we
were starving and met back up at PJ Clarke’s for dinner across from Julliard
and the temple. In effort to continue our classy-day we walked over to the
Opera House for our own ballet performance and (more) photo-opts.
Aaand met
up with more friends, walked over to Magnolia Bakery, and sat outside to enjoy the night because
the weather was perfect.
