GIRL’S TRIP
My mom and sister planned a girls’ trip almost immediately after I
arranged my internship in New York aaand we’ve been looking forward to the
weekend ever since.
Since my mom works in the bridal-fashion industry she has made a
lot of friends at The Knot so she stopped by on Friday to say
hello and get the grand tour!
From the second my mom stepped into the office I was in awe observing
her charismatic and professional ways, everyone loved her! It was a proud moment for me.
After showing my mom and Courtney around we walked over to East
Village to meet Courtney’s long-time BFF, Mandy, for lunch.
Finally tried chicken and waffles (it’s
been a long time coming)
After lunch we went shopping in Soho, made our way over to
Washington Square Park and then West Village, stopping for my first cronut
along the way…. And sat down for drinks with Mandy and her fiance Scott
(which
meant refills upon refills of Diet Coke for us)
Courtney provided treats from Magnolia Bakery and we headed over
to the Highline as the sun was setting. We also had a few minutes to explore
the Chelsea Market right below.
We ended the ultimate girls’ day with the sleepover of the year
back at the Ritz Carlton. We enjoyed facials, the
fluffiest white king-size bed, and an ultimate spoon-train.
SATURDAY
Saturday morning came bright and early. Chris protested against
our continual girls’ trips and flew in for the day to see what it was all
about. I think we showed him a good time and I was really glad he was able to
join!
We walked along the east edge of Central Park
to the gardens across from The Guggenheim Museum. We then extended our walk to
the ports for a ferry ride over to Brooklyn.
Our primary ONLY goal in Brooklyn was to go to Smorgasburg food festival—a Carlston dream.
Diana—proving that umbrellas aren’t really necessary when you have a designer handbag to carry above your head.
The walking continued! … To what was suppose to be the Brooklyn Bridge but ended up being the Manhattan.
At least Courtney spotted Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley along the way! We taxied over to the Brooklyn… aaaand walked across
it.
After going to a food festival and crossing a huge bridge we obviously needed a nutella,
strawberry, whip cream, and walnuts waffle from Waffle and Dinges as soon as we arrived back in Manhattan.
Our final stop of the day: the highline once
again. Across the street we meet our great and life-long family friend, Beth
and her family. So much fun!
Sunday
Sunday morning we
made it to the Lincoln Singles’ ward for testimony
meeting. I love the ward here and will be really sad to leave it! It was a lot
of fun to have my mom and Courtney join!
We met up with
Mandy and Scott for brunch at Sarabeth’s and then walked down Fifth Avenue to the New York Public Library and toured the building (a favorite!).
The weekend flew by way too fast. It was hard to say goodbye. Can’t wait until our next adventure together!
